Fried Mommy Brain

I really had no idea what to post about today.  I have probably six different posts sitting in my drafts folder, but I didn’t want to publish any of them. They all needed tweaking and research I just don’t have the motivation for right now.

Truth is, I’m fried.  It always makes for a long week when The Husband goes out of town, but this is his first “trip” since Bunny began her full-force toddler battle of wills.  I never knew something so small and cute could harbor such stubbornness.  We’ve had a couple of epic tantrums this week all over things as simple as not getting to throw out a smoothie cup or using the wrong color bowl for cereal.  I’ve always hear “three is worse than two” and I’m not really sure how I’ll get through the next year of the threes without going completely grey.  Thank goodness grey hair isn’t as noticeable on a blonde, right?

I’m also trying to get Bubba to sleep/nap on his own so we can make the transition of moving his crib up into Bunny’s room.  I’m not a fan of sleep training, but we really have no choice at this point.  We’re pretty much golden at night, but naps are a whole other war.

Oh yeah, and I decided it would be the perfect week to try and get our kitchen painted.  You know, because I don’t have enough to deal with.

Did I also happen to mention our deep-freezer somehow shut off in the past day or so and thawed the entire contents (that we just restocked after a trip to Costco)?  As any MilSpouse will tell you, appliances just love to break as soon as your spouse leaves.  It’s the Murphy’s Law of MilSpouses.

I’m really hoping this weekend brings me some much-needed alone time.  I’m planning on pedicures with a friend on Sunday, as long as we can find someplace to take us this close to Mother’s Day.

Until then, I just have to remember to think like Dory and “Just keep swimming”.
