Ah, Wednesday. AKA Laundry day. I try to do laundry on Wednesdays and Sundays. Sunday doesn’t always happen, but I never miss it on Wednesdays. I like having the clothes done for the rest of the week and for the upcoming weekend. Sundays mean laundry is done and ready for The Husband to go back to work.
And while I have a laundry schedule, I am still a lazy laundry mama. I never remember to pretreat stains and they sit in the laundry basket for days on end before tackling Mt. Washmore on Wednesday morning.
Because of this, I’ve lost a lot of Bunny and Bubba’s clothes to horrible stains.
Purex sent me a sample bottle of their Purex Complete with Zout detergent to test out as part of their Purex Insiders program. I used up the entire bottle before I wrote the review, just to make sure I was seeing its full potential (or lack thereof).
Purex Complete with Zout comes in a Free & Clear version as well as Fresh Morning Burst. We only use Free & Clear detergents on our clothes and towels. Both of our kids have sensitive skin and colors/scents in detergents end up causing rashes on their soft baby/toddler skin. I’m happy to report Purex Complete with Zout Free & Clear was true to its name and did not cause any irritation to the kid’s skin.
Purex Complete with Zout claims to have Triple Enzyme Stain Removers, which make pretreating unnecessary for most stains.
I have to say, after using the entire bottle of detergent, this is so true. As I said before, I am not one to remember to spray stain remover on the kids clothes. The majority of stains (especially tomato sauce) came out of clothes without any pretreating or soaking at all. I did find that chocolate stains didn’t come out as easily and usually required a second wash with pretreating. Greasy stains (like butter or olive oil) also came out without pretreating for the most part.
For the stains that didn’t come out in the first wash, I simply poured a little detergent on the stain, rubbed it together, and let it sit for at least an hour before it was rewashed. There were stains that remained, but I blame it more on me letting them sit for days before washing than on the detergent.
I also had an issue with the measurement lines in the cap. They are almost impossible to see. I had to take a magic marker and mark the cap so I could measure the detergent easier. I hope this is something they’ll improve.
The real testament to this detergent is the fact that I bought a second bottle. Often, I do reviews and love a product but I don’t always tend to stick with it in the long run. Purex Complete with Zout is definitely a product I will keep stocked in my laundry room from now on.
The great folks at Purex have provided me with a coupon for a free full-sized bottle of Purex Complete with Zout!
