Training Tuesday: Getting Crafty with Training

I’m linking up with Training Tuesday over at Three Pugs and a Baby today.

Today, I’m talking about motivation.

Everyone needs motivation.

Some people are motivated by pounds lost, miles logged, or calories burned.  Me?  Well, there’s one thing that will motivate me like no other…Disney.

Today was only my second day of the Couch-to-5k program.  I forced myself to wake up at 5:30 so I could run before TH needed to leave for work.  It was a rough run this morning, thanks to a horrible side stitch/cramp.  The entire run, I kept reminding myself it would all be worth it to run at Disney.

I’m a sucker for the Mouse, what can I say?

I also dig visual motivation.   I’m a big fan of countdowns, lists I can check off, etc.

I found a bunch of paint chips from an old Home Depot visit, some Mickey scrapbook paper, and voila!

A C25K countdown calendar. Each paint chip is a day of the C25K program.  On the back of each chip  is an inspirational quote or a reward (new running skirt, new shoes).  After each run, I flip up the paint chip to reveal my new motivation, with the ultimate reward at the end…Disney!

So there it is, the reason I got up at 5:30 and wheezed through a 2 mile run.
Disney.
Surprised?  I didn’t think so.

What motivates you to run or exercise?
