Mommy Confessions: When you don't love the "fun" stuff

Confession time:

I.hate.bath.time.

With a passion.

It's supposed to be all fun and bubbles and getting ready for bed.  For me, it's mess and puddles on the floor, a toddler who poops in the tub, and noise.  Oh, the noise.  It just echos in the bathroom.   I mean, does this really look like fun to you?

I think not.  It looks like something out of the preschool version of Psycho.

Normally, TH gives the kids a bath (he loves it) and I clean up from dinner.  I get to put on some music (or enjoy the semi-quiet) and zone out while cleaning the kitchen.  It's the perfect arrangement.

TH was out of town last week.  Bath time was all on me.  I can't say I wasn't tempted to skip baths for an entire week.  I didn't, but oh how I wanted to

I know I'm not the only one out there who hates certain parts of parenting.  And, I'm not talking about diapers or time outs.  I'm talking about the stuff people claim is "fun".  I have one friend who absolutely does not like to play around on the playground.  And she's one of the most fit moms I know.  It's just not her thing.  I have another mom friend who isn't into building blocks with her kids.  She loves playing anything else with her kids but blocks.

It seems we all have these little quirks about parenting, but many of us are reluctant to say anything for fear of being judged.  "What do you mean you don't love bath time? Don't you know how precious all of the time you spend with your children is!?!"  But you know what?  Even that woman at playgroup who you think is Supermom doesn't love parenting 24/7/365.  She's just good at hiding it.  Or has better meds than I do.  Either way, it's ok not to love the things you're "supposed" to love.

So, now it's your time to confess. What is the one "fun" parenting thing you find anything but fun?  Fess up!
