Five Question Friday for June 29 2012

It’s been a long time since I’ve participated in Five Question Friday.  If you’re interesting in playing along, head on over to My Little Life for the questions and linky each week.  Let me know if you’ve played so I can check out your answers, too!

1. What’s your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult?
I’m still a sucker for candy.  SweetTarts, Pixie Sticks, Smarties…basically pure sugar.  I used to hoard my allowance money and stock up when the ice cream truck pulled onto our street.  The stash of candy I had hidden in my room was epic.  Now I just hide my stash in the kitchen where the kids can’t find it.  What? You know you hide the good stuff from the kids, too.

2. What food will you not eat the low fat version of?
Really anything that replaces sugar with artificial sweetener like Diet coke, fat-free yogurt, granola bars, ect.  I can not stand the taste of fake sugars.  I’m getting grossed out just thinking about it.

3. What’s your favorite way to cool off during the summer?
Cold drinks and the beach or pool.  We don’t go as often as we should/could, but I love cool mornings at the beach, soaking up the rays, and enjoying the fresh air before the heat of the afternoon creeps in. It’s going to be really strange to move so far away from the beach.  I’ve never lived more than an hour from the ocean in my entire life.  Suddenly I’m feeling very landlocked and claustrophobic.

4. What’s your favorite summer read?
Last summer was the summer of Sookie Stackhouse.  This summer I have a ton of books on my bedside table, but I’m not really into any of them at the moment.  I have a Walt Disney bio I need to finish and a new Elizabeth I novel, too.  I did read the Fifty Shades Trilogy over my road trips/vacations, and it gets a big “meh” from me.  The writing was awful and I found the characters to be exasperating in their never-ending fight/make-up cycle.  It was an extremely fast read, though. I think I read the third book in two days.  Right now, Entertainment Weekly is all I really want to read.

5. What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat?
Staying inside.  It’s supposed to be 103 here today.  The only way to beat that kind of heat is with air conditioning.  I’m just hoping there isn’t a brown out/black out from everyone’s a/c running overtime.

So there you go! Five Question Friday!

Have a great weekend, y’all!
