I am so excited to see this first peek of Daniel Day Lewis as Abraham Lincoln!
I was a history major in college and love a good period piece. It will be great to see the Civil War/Reconstruction era fashion on the big screen again. My geeky history-loving self is already giddy over the thought.
And if there’s anyone that can retell the story of one of our country’s most influential leaders, it’s Steven Spielberg. Am I right?
“Lincoln” is based on the adapted screenplay of Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, Team of Rivals. It focuses on the last four months of the President’s life and his determination to ensure slavery would be forever abolished.
I’ve actually owned the book for quite some time on my nook and have yet to read it. Maybe now would be the perfect time to fire up the nook and get started. I’ve read they only used a small excerpt of the book for the screenplay, but it would be a perfect way to get into the Lincoln mindset before seeing the film.
“Lincoln” is a DreamWorks, Twentieth Century Fox, Participant Media production opening in limited release November 9, expanding November 16, 2012. November 9th is going to be a huge box office weekend with two other big-name films opening, but if ”Lincoln” is opening in the limited release in my neck of the woods on November 9th, it will be getting my ticket money hands-down.
In the meantime, you can keep up with the latest from the film on the Lincoln facebook page.
