I thought it would be fun to celebrate a week of My Favorite Things {that’s not copyrighted by Martha, right?}. This isn’t a week of sponsored posts or product reviews. It’s simply five posts highlighting some of the things that I love. Maybe you love them too or maybe you’ll discover something new to love. Either way, I’m excited to give you a peek into some of the things that make me happy!
Today I’m talking beauty products.
I’m not terribly high-maintenance. Heck, if we’re being honest, it’s a miracle for me to shower and get dressed every day. I do have to say I pride myself on making sure I’m dressed and at least throw on some lip gloss and mascara before I leave the house. {thanks to my Grandma for teaching me that lesson}
There are certain beauty products I simply can not live without. They take up residence on a little dish on my bathroom sink. The dish used to belong to my Grandma H. She kept it on her makeup table and filled it with her fabulous collection of costume jewelry. Now it sits on my bathroom, holding some of my favorite must-have products. It’s a nice little reminder of her in my everyday.
1. Bio true contact lens solution by Bausch + Lomb: I have super sensitive eyes and this is the one and only contact solution I have found in the seventeen years I’ve been wearing contacts that I truly love. I refuse to ever use another contact solution again. I use it every single day to clean and store my lenses. My eyes are much happier now that I’ve found Bio true. And, as a silly sidenote: I love that they include the travel-size bottles as a bonus in the big boxes. I love when my favorite stuff comes in travel-size.
2. Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoos: Remember when I said it was a miracle if I managed to shower everyday? Well, Oscar is my best friend on those days. I also do not wash my hair everyday to try and keep it from drying out. I keep the aerosol and powder dry shampoos on-hand at all times. The aerosol seems to work much better on 2nd day hair when I want to wear it down. It gives my hair amazing volume. I use the powder shampoo when traveling {hello easier time meeting the TSA requirements} or on my 2nd/3rd day hair when I’m wearing a ponytail or other updo. If you don’t own dry shampoo, you really need to. Go buy some now. The OB is a bit on the price side, but I think it’s one of those times where price really reflects the quality. I’ve tried some drugstore brands of dry shampoo and just didn’t love it as much.
3. Essie nail polish: I’m an Essie girl. I’ve tried other brands, but there’s just something about Essie that keeps me coming back for more. Maybe it’s the packaging or that it’s available at Target, maybe it’s the cute names {I mean, Turquoise and Caicos? How could you not love?}, maybe it’s because it’s one of the only polishes I don’t have issues with peeling/cracking/or the bottle getting gunked up. I just love my Essie. I can’t help it. I’m currently rocking the Turquoise and Caicos on my toes and Pink Diamond on my fingers. I can’t wait to get a hold of some of the fall colors like Penny Talk and Good as Gold.
4. Josie Maran Argan Oil: How in the world did I survive before I discovered argan oil? Seriously, y’all. I think it’s my miracle product. No joke. All it takes is two tiny drops rubbed between my hands and distributed through my damp hair each day and I’m signing its praises. I have dry, thin, long hair. Blow drying used to kill it. Now I simply use a couple drops of the oil and my hair is soft, shiny, and breakage has all but disappeared. My nails and cuticles are even in better shape now because they’re getting a daily dose of the oil as I put it in my hair. I haven’t tried using it on my face yet, but the reviews on Sephora’s website claim it does wonders for everything from under eye circles to acne. It did take me a few uses to find out the exact amount my hair needs {which lead to a few greasy hair days}, but I was elated once I had it figured out.
5. Jimmy Choo Roll-on Perfume: I’ve never been huge on perfume. Ok, wait, let me take that back…we all had our Jean Nate days amirite? Now it’s something I wear almost every single day. I prefer the roll-on over the spray because I can put the roll-on exactly where I want it {and no, I’m not telling you where that might be} and my bathroom doesn’t become a cloud of perfume spray each day. It is also perfect for air travel, y’all. I purchased this tube on my Disneyland trip in June and I’ve only used about a third of the product since then, even with daily use. The Jimmy Choo scent is heavenly, too. It’s light and girly. According to the Sephora website, it has notes of Green, Tiger Orchid, Toffee, Sensual Indonesian Patchouli. I can’t even pretend to pick out those scents from the perfume. All I know is it smells freaking wonderful.
So there you have it, five beauty products I love. What are some of your favorite beauty products??
