Now that we’re finally settling into our new home, it’s time to start thinking about the holidays and holiday visitors. We did so much traveling in October and we just don’t have it in us to travel back home for Christmas or New Year’s. Luckily, our families understand and will make the trek here to visit us this holiday season.
I’m a wee bit crazy when it comes to preparing for house guests. (shocking, right?) I like to make sure my guests are as comfortable as possible. Nothing is worse than traveling for hours on end to find out you’re sleeping on the floor or sharing a room with your grandparents. When we travel, I miss the comforts of home: our warm, comfy bed, our own shower, and a kitchen stocked with food and drinks we love. I try to make sure our guests have all of those things.
One thing I love to do is to create a “welcome basket” for the guest room. I fill it with things like headache medicine, hand cream, a local newspaper, bottled water, favorite snacks, and a comfy pair of slipper socks (our floors can get quite cold in the winter). It’s a little touch that can go a long way to helping our guests feel welcome. Don’t forget your fluffiest towels (freshly-laundered, of course) and a couple of extra blankets. Also make sure there’s plenty of room for suitcases and clothes in the closet!
If our guests will be arriving late, or after a long day of travel, I prepare sandwiches or soup in the crock pot. This way, they can have something homecooked to eat when they arrive, but it isn’t too heavy of a meal before bedtime.
I may go a little overboard for our house guests, especially at Christmastime, but it’s totally worth it to know our guests are comfortable and able to relax while they’re here. Comfort is key when traveling and I know I appreciate the little things our families do for us when we visit their homes.
Cottonelle knows a lot about comfort, too. I mean, who wants to show up at someone’s home and find that scratchy hotel-grade toilet paper in the bathroom? Not me, that’s for sure. We have a basket of Cotonelle products for our guests. Extra toilet paper is key when house guests are visiting. You know Uncle Mel uses up a whole roll every time he steps foot in that bathrrom. And Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Wipes add a little extra refreshing touch to your, ahem, bathroom routine. Yes, I’m talking toilet paper, y’all. You know you’re just as picky about it as I am. Why wouldn’t you give your guests the best, too?
Right now, Cotonelle is looking for your help in naming their Cottonelle Care Routine ( a two step routine using Cottonelle Ultra Comfort Care Toilet Paper and Fresh Care Flushable Wipes). Maybe you’d call it the “Clean Cycle” or the “Magic Fresh”. Whatever you’d call it, Cottonelle wants to know. You can enter their Name It contest on Facebook for a chance to win a year’s supply of Cottonelle. (hey, that’s a pretty awesome prize…I feel like we’re always running out of toilet paper around here)
You can also enter here to win your very own Cottonelle Comfort Pack (Cottonelle Ultra Comfort Care Toilet Paper and Fresh Care Flushable Wipes). Simply leave me a comment with your best Name It entry to enter. That’s it! Need ideas for an awesome name? Well, the Name It contest on facebook will randomize a name just for you. I’ll be drawing two winners on Friday, November 23rd at 11:00am.
Want a bonus entry? Leave a separate comment telling me your best tip for making house guests feel welcome this holiday season.
You must leave an email where you can be reached. Winner must respond on Friday to claim the prize.
Enter here, enter on Facebook, and win! I’ll be sharing some of my favorite entries next month!
Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cottonelle. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
